You Sunk My Battleship!

Our neighbours over the road had a clear out yesterday and being Northern I didn't like to see good stuff being thrown in the tip. I am now, therefore, the new owner of 2 bikes, a tent, a box of lego, a box of brio train stuff, assorted jigsaws and board games. Most of this booty will be on its way to school/YMCA etc but I digress....

One of the rescued games was "Battleships", of course - unlike the version I used to play this was the electronic version (batteries not included). So, Elliot and I enjoyed a father/son moment and went to battle. E's carefully crafted ruses to distract my attention so he could sneak a peak at my fleet were wasted as he couldn't correlate that information back to his grid. Having said that, he still beat me.

If you feel nostalgic, I found a this version on-line (no batteries required).

Mobile Emilia

Emilia rode a bike for the first time. I came across this pink (what else) speeder at a tag sale at Elliot's school. The bike cost me $20, the helmet $35 - something's not right there... Anyway, she seemed to enjoy it. The only flaw in the plan is that she can't reach the brake pulls.

Never mind, winter is just around the corner and her fingers should be long enough by the spring :-)

Next Madonna?

Emilia created this outfit and improvised microphone all without aid. She certainly didn't get any singing/dancing genes from me so we have Jo to thank for this :-) If you'd like to see the "3 little monkeys" video click here. NB this is a big file (10mb).

Saturday Night at Grandma's

Sad to read that Ronnie Barker died today. I remember watching The Two Ronnies at Grandma's house on a Saturday evening - very funny. Here's one of his favourite jokes:

The toilets at a local police station have been stolen. Police say they have nothing to go on.

Or maybe not...

What a weekend.... mid 80's, golf and the beach. After a little knee deep paddling Emilia found some large rocks to add to her collection at home and Elliot built a huge volcano. (Don't worry Daddy it won't erupt, it's just a replica).
